The Kentucky Derby, brunch and a cool vibe! What else do you need? Don’t miss The 3rd Annual OG Theory Derby Party at The VNYL, an east village venue that pays homage to vintage NYC life and upon entering is like taking a walk into a time portal and ending up in the 70’s.

2-4 pm: If you need some sustenance to go with some bubbly, brunch will be offered from 2-4 pm.

Artist Amorousabyss will be taking pictures of guests for his ongoing portrait series that uses flowers to tell stories.

5-10 pm: Tunes will be spinning, the drinks will be flowing and the fun will be had.

6:30 pm The Kentucky Derby, called “The most exciting 2 minutes in Sports” will be shown on a 30 ft projection screen

There will be surprises throughout the day as well as photographers snapping away throughout the duration of the event. Though you can’t smoke indoor’s you can puff stogies in the front and The OG Theory Cigars will be for sale.

The Wawa Welcome America! Independence Day Parade is bigger and better than ever in 2011 with more than 4,000 participants from a dozen states.

The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. and features 16 marching musical groups, nine floats, five military branches and plenty of special guests.

Among the performers this year: the Hoh Japanese Drummers, Minas Brazilian Dancers and Drummers and the oldest fife and drum band in America, the Mattatuck Drum Band founded in 1767.

Hundreds of active duty enlisted and veteran soldiers and officers from the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will march down the nation
