    The granddaughter of famed Cuban vocalist and actress Isaura Mendoza, Isa (born Isa Marina Lopez) is an extraordinarily talented Bronx-born singer, songwriter, and model who has earned rightful comparisons to Alicia Keys, Selena, and Aaliyah. Isa’s music is reflective of her multi-faceted personality, soulful roots, edgy exterior, and overpowering vocal ability (she’s a trained Dramatic Soprano with a range spanning from D3 to D6).

    Inspired by the legendary Maria Callas’ performance in Puccini’s Tosca, Isa, at the age of 14, enrolled at The Marianela Sanchez School of Music in the Dominican Republic, where she was classically trained and mentored by celebrated Lyric Soprano, Marianela Sanchez.

    The Fools & Kings Project in collaboration with Riverbank State Park opens its free outdoor production of The Tempest on Saturday, September 10th at the Riverbank State Park Amphitheatre at 4:30pm (entrance at W. 145th and Riverside Drive). This marks the second production of the company’s third season of outdoor Shakespeare.

    The production, directed by Melissa Meli, melds Shakespeare’s text with original live music (composed and performed by Mike Handelman) and devised movement (by Lisa LaGrande) to create magic in a production without lights, sets, or special effects.

    The production team is rounded out by Liza Penney (Stage Manager), Callan Suozzi-Rearic & Conor Mullen (Co-Fight Directors), and Shann Smith (Production Intern). The Tempest features Jonathan Dauermann (Prospero), Cameron Clarke (Antonio), Kyle Duke (Caliban), Michael Hagins (Alonso), Jeremy Kotler (Ferdinand), Tristan Miller (Gonzalo), Tyler Riley (Sebastian), Zoey J. Rutherford (Miranda), Derek Spaldo (Trinculo), Rachel Weekley (Stephano), and Vanessa Wendt (Ariel), with Jeremy Sapadin (Ferdinand alternate, September 16th and 17th performances).

    Performances at Riverbank State Park are Saturdays and Sundays, September 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th, all at 4:30pm. The production will also be performed at Summit Rock in Central Park (enter at W. 81st Street and Central Park West) on Friday, September 16th at 5:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday, October 1st and 2nd at 4:30pm.

    The Fools & Kings Project is dedicated to bringing accessible, engaging theatre to New York City and its surrounding areas, with an emphasis on Shakespeare and other classical texts.
