Join Captain Ahab’s Motorcycle Club for a free walking tour of Abraham Lincoln’s NYC funeral route. This event is in connection with the CAMC feature film project, The Embalmer’s Tale.

On April 24th 1865 the body of Abraham Lincoln was ferried across the Hudson River to Manhattan for an elaborate 30 hour funeral. On Thursday, April 24th 2014 we will retrace the steps of his funeral procession.

Our day will begin at 8:45AM at Desbrosses Street (NYC) on the bank of the Hudson River. At 9:00AM the tour will walk up Desbrosses St. to Canal St. continue along Canal St. to Broadway, then down Broadway to City Hall.

CITY HALL TOUR
At 10:00AM registered attendees will take a tour of City Hall. (To register click here / Space is limited.) If you would like to join the walking portion, but are unable to attend the City Hall tour they will regroup at the fountain in front of City Hall after 11AM.

WALKING TOUR
At approx. 11AM we will begin the “April 25th funeral route” up Broadway, stopping for lunch at Union Square. After lunch, interested parties are welcome to join for the remainder of the route, continuing up 5th Ave to 34th St. finishing at 30th St. & 9th Ave. (2 blocks from Penn Station)

NOTE:

  • Funeral attire requested.
  • Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
  • Bring lunch money.
  • The event will be photographed, filmed and recorded for use in our documentary library. By attending you are giving your consent to be filmed.
  • NY City Hall is a working government building with airport-style security, including a metal detector and x-ray machine for your carry-on.
  • STARTING POINT: April 24th. 8:45AM. Desbrosses Street (NYC) @ the Hudson River. Nearest subway stops: (1) Canal St. – (A,C,E) Canal St.
  • The walking portions are informal. No need to register. You are welcome to join in at any point.
