Come out to Brooklyn For Target’s First Saturday’s at The Brooklyn Museum. Check out all of the great exhibits and the awesome party later at night. Owing to limited capacity, some programs require tickets. Free tickets are available for selected events. Please note ticket distribution times above. Members may pick up tickets from the Membership Desk beginning at 2 p.m. while supplies last. Programs subject to change without notice.Free general admission and $4 parking (flat rate), 5–11 p.m. Museum galleries are open until 11 p.m. Cash bar, food concessions, and Shop open until 11 p.m.

4:30 p.m. Dance
Public Plaza (Rain location: Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd floor, 5 p.m.)
Peniel Guerrier and Tamboula dance troupe, presented in conjunction with Haiti Cultural Exchange.

5–7 p.m. Music
Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden (Rain location: Rubin Pavilion, 1st floor)
La Troupe Makandal uses Haitian drumming to represent Haiti’s history and culture.

6 p.m. Artist Talk
Morris A. and Meyer Schapiro Wing, 5th floor
Brooklyn artist Pierre Francillon responds to works in the exhibition Andy Warhol: The Last Decade. Presented in conjunction with Haiti Cultural Exchange. Free tickets (30) are available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

6–7:30 p.m. Film
Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Forum, 4th floor
Poto Mitan: Haitian Women, Pillars of the Global Economy (Renée Bergan and Mark Schuller, 2009, 50 min., NR). Documentary about the lives and struggles of Haitian women workers. Co-director Renée Bergan introduces the film and answers questions after the screening. Free tickets (30) are available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

6:30–8:30 p.m. Hands-On-Art
Education Gallery, 1st floor
Learn about the homemade instruments used by Haitian rara bands—including drums, horns, and shakers—and then make your own. Free timed tickets (380) are available at the Visitor Center at 5:30 p.m.

7 p.m. Artist Talk
Contemporary Art Galleries, 4th floor
Artist Lorraine O’Grady talks about her work Miscegenated Family Album, the Museum’s featured object for August. Free tickets (30) are available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

7:30–8:30 p.m. Performance
Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden (Rain location: Rubin Pavilion, 1st floor)
Master drummer Frisner Augustin of La Troupe Makandal leads a drum circle. Bring your drum!

8 p.m. Discussion
Luce Center for American Art, 5th floor
Sabine Toussaint leads a community discussion about rebuilding Haiti.

9–11 p.m. Dance Party
Museum Parking Lot (Rain location: Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd floor)
Brooklyn-based Haitian DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry and the Earthman Experience present a Haitian Carnival-style dance party with compas, soca, calypso, and other world music.
9:30–10:30 p.m. Music
Rubin Pavilion, 1st floor
Jazz musician Obed Jean-Louis, presented in conjunction with Haiti Cultural Exchange.
