Event Description

The Fools & Kings Project in collaboration with Riverbank State Park opens its free outdoor production of The Tempest on Saturday, September 10th at the Riverbank State Park Amphitheatre at 4:30pm (entrance at W. 145th and Riverside Drive). This marks the second production of the company’s third season of outdoor Shakespeare.

The production, directed by Melissa Meli, melds Shakespeare’s text with original live music (composed and performed by Mike Handelman) and devised movement (by Lisa LaGrande) to create magic in a production without lights, sets, or special effects.

The production team is rounded out by Liza Penney (Stage Manager), Callan Suozzi-Rearic & Conor Mullen (Co-Fight Directors), and Shann Smith (Production Intern). The Tempest features Jonathan Dauermann (Prospero), Cameron Clarke (Antonio), Kyle Duke (Caliban), Michael Hagins (Alonso), Jeremy Kotler (Ferdinand), Tristan Miller (Gonzalo), Tyler Riley (Sebastian), Zoey J. Rutherford (Miranda), Derek Spaldo (Trinculo), Rachel Weekley (Stephano), and Vanessa Wendt (Ariel), with Jeremy Sapadin (Ferdinand alternate, September 16th and 17th performances).

Performances at Riverbank State Park are Saturdays and Sundays, September 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th, all at 4:30pm. The production will also be performed at Summit Rock in Central Park (enter at W. 81st Street and Central Park West) on Friday, September 16th at 5:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday, October 1st and 2nd at 4:30pm.

The Fools & Kings Project is dedicated to bringing accessible, engaging theatre to New York City and its surrounding areas, with an emphasis on Shakespeare and other classical texts. Simple yet compelling design, combined with a fast-paced, high-stakes approach creates powerful, enticing productions which attract the expert and novice alike. ABOUT DOG MOM’S DAY

The Dig has created a day to celebrate and thank the dog moms who dedicate their love and support every day to their dogs. It’s a different, special and visceral love that deserves its own day to be recognized and appreciated.  Every year, dog moms are reprimanded for celebrating their motherhood on Mother’s Day. Dog Mom’s Day will be a day truly dedicated to the dog moms, foster dog moms, and future dog moms. Dog Mom’s Day is a celebration of women and their dogs.
