The New York section of the Audio Engineering Society will be hosting a FREE screening of Worlds of Sound: The Ballad of Folkways tonight at Hearst Corporation Tower in the Joseph Urban Theater. This documentary chronicles the 60 year history Smithsonian Folkways Records, from the vision of Moses Asch to “document the world of sound” to the nonprofit record label of the Smithsonian Institution, the national museum of the United States.
Join the Audio Engineering Society for a Meet & Greet at 6:30 PM and presentation at 7:00. After the screening, Richard Carlin, author of the book, Worlds of Sound, and film maker Andrea Kalin will be on hand to discuss the history of Smithsonian Folkways and making of the documentary.
