Gelf Magzine presents the return of The Non-Motivational Speaker Series on Thursday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m. in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The theme for the free Sept. 24 event is “Back to School Night” with speakers: Sam Rubenstein, former SLAM Magazine online editor turned NYC high school teacher Hannah Friedman, author of prep school memoir “Everything Sucks: Losing My Mind and Finding Myself in a High School Quest for Cool”Eliot Weiss, coach of perennial HS chess powerhouse Edward R. Murrow High School reflect on America’s future. Weiss is the subject of “Game of Kings: A Year Among the Oddballs and Geniuses Who Make Up America’s Top High School Chess Team.”
