Giant Step’s biweekly DJ series at Hudson is proud to welcome for the very first time, the godfather of the Jersey House sound DJ Tony Humphries.
It can be said that Tony Humphries has left an unerasable impression on the global dance music industry. To date over 300 venues he has gigged worldwide, and done over 200 studio remixes. This Brooklyn, New York native landed his first professional DJ gig at Manhattan’s posh Club El Morocco in 1975. From then on developing his creative experiences behind the recording studio’s control board only enhanced his style and magic bringing artists like Mtume (Tonys’ first gold record “Juicy Fruit”), Chaka Khan, Karen White, Regina Belle, Donna Summer, Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, and The Cover Girls to be governed by the “Humphries handicraft”.
In 2006, with the introduction of his new label, Tony Records, the legendary producer and DJ continues to challenge himself by taking different directions in the music he helped to spawn.
As New York City’s premier Monday night event for the last two years, the Hudson has consistently seen a curated roster of DJ legends and pioneering artists as wide-ranging as Louie Vega, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzanova, Bobbito and Danny Krivit, playing styles from soulful house, Latin, hip hop, jazz, funk and more. Mark your calendars for quality music and dancing at Hudson.
