From Giant Robot:

To help end its final month of operation with a bang, Giant Robot New York is proud to host two special events on one date: a book signing by David Choe followed by a musical performance by Goh Nakamura.

Raised on comic books, affected by street art, and inspired by crime, women, and music, Choe has developed a unique and restless style that is effortless yet meticulous and focused yet dirty. Since the artist contributed his first illustration to Giant Robot magazine in 1997, he has gone on to become an international fixture in the worlds of street art and indie comics, and has had hugely successful solo shows in high-end galleries in Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, and Los Angeles (not to mention all three Giant Robot locations). For this special outing, Choe will be signing his new 288-page, self-titled monograph published by Chronicle Books, as well as the recently released Munko figures–otaku-grade sculpts based on his whale paintings and made by Japan’s Good Smile Company.

Goh Nakamura is a San Francisco Bay Area-based musician who writes ditties about parking tickets, impossible crushes, and faraway dreamlands. With one foot in the traditional troubadour world and another in the digital age, he performs at venues small, large, and virtual, to an enthusiastic and ever growing audience. A fortuitous 2007 feature on YouTube’s front page brought his music videos over a million views and earned him a huge new fanbase from all over the world. In a perfect world, Nakamura would be playing Madison Square Garden. Lucky for us and unlucky for scalpers, there’s no justice and we get to see him free of charge at GRNY.

While much of GRNY’s inventory is marked down 30 percent, items related to Choe and Nakamura (as well as the current art show) will not be included.
