From KCCS:

Tonight begins Kings County Cinema Society’s three-week run of Black History Month-themed programming: post-Blaxploitation satires. This week is a pair of caustic and self-reflexive Hollywood satires about the black experience.

At 8p: Robert Townsend’s Hollywood Shuffle (1987, 78min), a biting satire made on a shoestring budget about a black actor’s uphill climb to be taken seriously in stereotype-ridden Hollywood. “For a mere $100,000, Townsend and company have made a funny, poignant and technically proficient film — one that should thoroughly embarrass those studios that routinely offer up badly made, multimillion-dollar disasters.” -Washington Post … check out Siskel & Ebert’s thumbs up review.

At 9:30: Keenan Ivory Wayans’ directorial debut I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988, 87min), a hilarious send-up of the blaxploitation phenomenon, starring some of its best known names: Isaac Hayes, Jim Browne and Bernie Casey star alongside Wayans in this goofball action parody. “The black counterpart to The Naked Gun, and very nearly as funny; the bounty of antimacho gags is both unexpected and refreshing.” -Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader original trailer.
