Muriel Guépin Gallery is pleased to present Years of Veneersa solo exhibition of new works by Matthew Conradt.

Finding inspiration in his mid-western Rust Belt upbringing, Matthew Conradt has created a body of work that moves far beyond sepia-toned nostalgia.  In his unique combination of collage and photo-transfer, he appropriates magazine and printed digital images to create a critical counter-narrative to the American Dream.  The results are direct yet contradictory.  Just as the flat, Mylar surface betrays the torn edges of the original collage, the realities of this country often don’t align with common perception.

Through the blending and superposition of found images, Conradt depicts what he feels is a two-tier America while maintaining refined aesthetic.
The exhibition will be on view through June 30th.
