Drummer/composer Nate Smith was recently signed to Fresh Sound records and expects to release his “Quartet” album in late 2009.

Category Four is a recently formed collective – Daisuke Abe is a prolific composer, well known to patrons of Cleopatra’s Needle. Peter Brendler is an alumnus of John Abercrombie’s band and a composer in his own right. Saxophonist Jacob Teichroew, the newest addition to the band, is already well-known to Bar 66 patrons and is fast becoming one of New York’s up-and-comers.

Catreory Four performs fusion/soul/hip hop/r&b-influenced contemprary jazz, and all four of its members compose.
