Out To See is a neighborhood-wide celebration of the South Street Seaport, featuring emerging talent in art, music, food and craft. This is our second OTS event and it will span 4 weekends in November 2014. Out To See will activate various spaces in the South Street Seaport neighborhood including small business retailers and drive visitors and local New Yorkers visit this historic neighborhood.
History
Out To See was formulated by several local residents and business owners as a way to showcase the South Street Seaport neighborhood in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Their love for the neighborhood caused them to want to find a way to draw people in, and encourage them to explore the many unique shops and restaurants it has to offer. This idea eventually evolved into a large-scale celebration incorporating quality art and music.
The Event
This Out To See event spans the first 4 weekends in November, including a Maker Gallery, an Artisan Market, pop-up galleries and performances. Each weekend will feature quality crafters and makers, live music, thoughtful art, and delicious food. This year South Street Seaport Museum is excited to participate and welcomes makers, artisans, and other creators to the Herman Melville Gallery, located at 213 Water Street.
