Mark your calendar and start clearing your closets — the famous mega-swap is back on May 29th.

In case you missed that last two swaps (that drew over 1,000 each!), this is how Score! works:

Attendees bring their old clothes, music, books, etc, to the event and drop them at the door. Volunteers sort and distribute these items to themed departments where professional curators organize them into boutique-like displays. Attendees have the option to browse each department and take as much as they can carry! Meanwhile, DJs keep the party poppin’, artists silkscreen custom tote bags, and fashion photographers take photos of stylish “scored” outfits. At the end of the day, all leftover items and proceeds from the event are donated to charity.

This year, there will be an  expanded list of departments: Clothing (Male & Female), Books & Media, Electronics, Music, Housewares, Bikes, Crafts and Kiddie Corner. There will be an all-star team of curators to help run all of the departments:

Etsy is a global DIY marketplace, a mecca for all things vintage and handmade. As curators of the Craft Department, they will be available to provide inspiration and expertise. Bring your unused sewing patterns, needle nose pliers, craft paper, & other creative refuse…and walk away with a new project!

Market Publique is an online marketplace dedicated to vintage fashion. From Mohair puff-sleeved sweaters to old-timey bowling shoes, fashionistas can find and buy the choicest threads from independent vendors.

Desk Set is a group of New York City area librarians, archivists, bibliophiles and other bookish types who meet informally to explore and enjoy literary resources, connect with like-minded folks, and raise money for institutions who promote literacy.

Showpaper is a free bi-weekly print-only publication which aims to list and promote all ages DIY shows in the NYC and tri-state area. They spread the word about shows that would otherwise slip under the radar. Each issue also features a full color piece of art by a contemporary artist.

AlphaOne is a Brooklyn hackerspace that do ridiculously cool things with lasers, circuits, and dry ice. They even made a Christmas tree that can twitter … MacGuyver much? Bring your old technology & gadgets, and they might show us how to make jetpacks.

NY Bike Jumble celebrates New York’s bike culture by hosting bike flea markets, staging exhibits about cycling history and taking photos of New York’s bikes and bikers.

All proceeds will be donated to Global Inheritance – a 501c3 that reinvents youth activism by providing tools via music, art and technology. All leftover donations will be delivered to charity, and all textiles will be recycled by Wearable Collections.
