Pack a picnic, bring a friend and settle in for a night of premier Hollywood movies. This year’s theme is Nieuw York/New York–films that span the centuries–in honor of the Henry Hudson Quadricentennial. This week’s film is “Dinner at Eight.” Set in the 1930s, this film stars Marie Dressler, John Barrymore, and Wallace Beery and is directed by George Cukor.

In this film version of the George S. Kaufman/Edna Ferber stage hit, socially ambitious Billie Burke throws a dinner party and the all-star cast is invited, including Marie Dressler as the dowager, and Wallace Beery and Jean Harlow as the crude millionaire and his lascivious wife.

Movies Under the Stars is sponsored by Riverside South Properties.
