On the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the airborne disaster that claimed the lives of Lynyrd Skynyrd bandmembers Steve Gaines, Ronnie Van Zant and Cassie Gaines, Sweet and Nasty teams up with local burlesque superstar Clams Casino to present FREEBIRD: a tassel-twirling tribute to famous musicians whose careers were cut short by aerial mishaps.

Clams Casino and Nasty Canasta recently visited Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. “We were sitting there watching an incredibly touching documentary about the tragic deaths of all these amazing musicians,” recalls Casino, “and we realised that all we could think about was tits.” It was at that moment that FREEBIRD was born.

John Denver, Otis Redding, Buddy Holly, Patsy Cline, The Big Bopper, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Glenn Miller: stars of the NYC burlesque scene will take it all off in honor of these and other tragically-dispatched musical greats, culminating at midnight with a group striptease salute to “Freebird” itself. “Because really,” asks Canasta, “what goes better with bump-and-grind than horrible flaming death?”

If we leave here tomorrow, will you still remember us? Anita Cookie, Bunny Love, Creamy Stevens, Jezebel Express, Shelly The Singing Siren, DJ Broadway Brassy, go-go gal Rosabelle Selavy, and your reanimated hosts Nasty Canasta and Clams Casino will be free (and clothing-free) as a bird, at FREEBIRD!
