Literate Africa Project, Inc. (LAP) is proud to host the inaugural Write Off Illiteracy event at the famed Alvin Ailey Dance Center in New York City. You are invited to attend this exciting event and support their educational programs, which empower the young minds of New York City and increase access to formal education in Africa.

This complimentary cocktail reception will feature a silent auction of selected artworks donated by LAP’s partners.  The evening will also include live performances by the talented Brooklyn High School of the Arts’ jazz ensemble, Ghanaian artist Osekre and Ebonie Smith.  Admission is free, and all donations received will go directly to supporting our educational programs.

Literate Africa Project, Inc. is an organization founded on the premise that universal primary education is vital to the global community. The mission of the Literate Africa Project is to provide academic resources and to support educational initiatives in underserved communities by strengthening collaboration between African educators and their global counterparts.  Through our educational initiatives, which include the creation of computers labs, literacy centers, the donation of mobile libraries and our young writers’ blog, youth LEAP.org, the Literate Africa Project is committed to transforming underserved communities into highly educated environments.
