Fantastic Planet (1973, 72min) Rene Laloux’s bizarro beautiful French-Czechoslovakian animated sci-fi co-production set in a future where people are the tiny playthings of a race of giant blue humanoid aliens. The film won the special Jury Prize and Cannes and was distributed stateside by Roger Corman, and remains an influence on everyone from James Cameron to Madlib.
