HSBC, official Wimbledon sponsor, is bringing the authentic tournament experience to the heart of midtown Manhattan. The week of complimentary activities will take place from Monday, June 22nd – Friday, June 26th, from 7 AM-7 PM daily, at Rockefeller Center, between 50th and 51st Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues, Manhattan. Activities are open to the public at no cost and include:
* Live daily screenings of Wimbledon matches at the HSBC outdoor viewing area. Match play airs 7am- 5pm, followed by classic footage till 7pm
* Singles tennis on Manhattan’s only grass court. Call 212.525.6933 to reserve court time. Rackets and balls will be provided, or players may use their own equipment
* Carts serving traditional English strawberries and cream
* Wii Grand Slam Tennis- play the new game on Nintendo consoles in viewing area
* Picture with the Wimbledon Trophy – Through green screen technology, fans can pose with the Wimbledon trophy and walk away with a photo
To kick off the week on Monday, June 22 from 12-1pm, former world #1 ranked players Jim Courier and Jennifer Capriati will play an exhibition with select fans on the specially-developed grass court. Emcee Luke Jensen will call the plays.
