To anyone that wants to combine a passion for aspiring filmmakers and advocacy for people with disabilities, this will be the first of a yearlong series of events to support Adaptive Design Association.

Come out at NYU for the premiere of Among the Giants: How and Innovative Non-Profit is Rethinking Design, a Cory Tomascoff Film Short that captures the compelling story of Raven and Tamara, and the impact that Adaptive Design and customized devices have made in their lives.

Adaptive Design is the only nonprofit organization in New York City that designs and produces customized equipment for children and adults with disabilities. This equipment is often unique to the individual, and unavailable from commercial retailers. I also particularly support this organization because by working with families from all economic levels, they enable children with disabilities to be full participants in their communities. This inclusion into a child’s family and school environments provides access and opportunities that would otherwise be denied. This film beautifully depicts how inclusion is not a choice; it’s a human and civil right that’s often ignored.

There is a $10 dollar donation suggested, and all proceeds support the fabrication and design of adaptive equipment.

Thanks for your interest! Please stay posted for other upcoming events, and don’t hesitate to PM me for more information.
