Tickets for The Shed’s pre-opening program A Prelude to The Shed is now available to the public. The free, two-week arts event (May 1–13) will showcase The Shed’s mission to support artistic invention and present multiple art forms in one flexible space.

Architect Kunlé Adeyemi of NLÉ Works has collaborated with artist Tino Sehgal to transform an undeveloped lot at Tenth Avenue and West 31st Street (one block from The Shed’s permanent home) into a temporary venue whose structural elements can be moved and reconfigured in a fluid integration of architecture and choreography.

Event Dates: Tuesday, May 1 – Sunday, May 13, 2018 (no programming Monday, May 7)

Event Times: 11:30 am – 5:30 pm; panel discussions begin at 6 pm; music performances begin at 7:30 pm

Tickets Available: Beginning Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 12 pm EST

WHO:

This variation by artist Tino SehgalPas de Deux Cent Douze, a new work by choreographer William Forsythe; musical performances by AbraAzealia Banks and ArcaD.R.E.A.M. Ring dance battles; A stroll through the fun palace, featuring architect Cedric Price‘s archives; and panel discussions curated by Dorothea von Hantelmann.

HOW:

Tickets to A Prelude to The Shed are free and can be reserved at theshed.org (maximum of two advance tickets per person). A limited number of same-day tickets will also be available at the door. Prelude is rain or shine; all tickets are general admission, standing.

Come out for the launch of the BLOCKS NYC Greenwich Village Coloring Book on October 15th at the Lomography Gallery Store NYC (41 West 8th Street) from 5-8pm!

City BLOCKS Culture Collective explores and celebrates the architecture of neighborhoods throughout great cities, and showcases how historical landmarks have evolved and become part of the cultural landscape.

This year, they’re exploring Greenwich Village with a coloring book that celebrates the rich musical history of the 60’s and 70’s folk rock scene.

The BLOCKS NYC Coloring Book includes artist-illustrated pullout coloring pages of album covers that played a critical role in the 60’s and 70’s folk and rock scene in Greenwich Village, iconic buildings of musician’s haunts and studios, as well as some personal sketch and journal pages. Each page has an illustration by artist David Setrakian on the front and a story about the neighborhood on the back.

Join them for a free walking tour of 60’s/70’s Greenwich Village folk scene with Bob Egan of PopSpots! This will be a one hour fun and informative tour of the coolest spots where musicians played and lived in one of the most important scenes in music.


LOCATION: Please meet under the Washington Square Arch on Saturday October 15 at 3:45pm
The tour will start at 4pm promptly and will end at The Lomography Gallery Store for the launch of the coloring book! Drinks and light snack will be available.
