Kings County Cinema Society will be back at Freddy’s Backroom tonight. They will be screening El dia de la bestia (The Day of the Beast, 1995, 99min, Spain/Italy). El dia de la bestia is director’s Alex de la Iglesia’s horror-thriller-comedy mash-up about an unhinged priest and his attempts to thwart the birth of the Antichrist in present-day Madrid on Christmas Day. Just in time for the holidays, a dark, stylized comedy in the vein of early Almodovar and Raimi’s Evil Dead trilogy. Contains brutal violence, drugs, cussing, brief nudity and sacrilegious behavior by the clergy.
