Mullberry Street library will be showing a free screening of Olivia Carrescia’s movie Diamonds in the Dark.

DIAMONDS IN THE DARK is a study of the situation of women in Romanian society during and in the years following the reign of Ceausescu. Mixing archival footage and contemporary interviews with women who live in both rural and urban Romania, the film reveals the suffering that women endured under Ceausescu’s regime, as well as the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead. Filmmaker Olivia Carrescia will introduce the screening.
