Come out this Wednesday to help Kings County Cinema Society celebrate their return to Freddy’s Bar and Backroom. They will be showing some shorts and the John Waters’ trash classic Pink Flamingos.

Video artist and Freddy’s owner Donald O’Finn will present a selection of shorts from his ongoing experiment in constructing what he calls “narratives from appropriated material” from a vast array of pop culture detritus. O’Finn’s Don’t Go Looking part 1 Followed by a short from Italian experimentalist Paolo Gioli: Secondo Il Mio Occhio Di Vetro (According to My Glass Eye).

Feature presentation: John Waters’ unwholesome and repulsive ode to transgressive behavior and American competitiveness, Pink Flamingos (1972, 93min, NC-17). With the title of “Filthiest Person Alive” at stake, Babs Johnson (Waters muse Divine), her degenerate son and dim-bulb mother face stiff competition from the vile Marble clan in an unbridled assault on every taboo in the book. Incest, drug trafficking, bestiality, shit-eating and an egg fetish are merely the tip of the iceberg in this ultra-black comedy. “Beyond pornography… the nearest American film to Bunuel’s Un Chien Andalou” -NY Magazine.
