Come out to Brooklyn For Target’s First Saturday’s at The Brooklyn Museum. The August Target First Saturday celebrates Brooklyn’s Caribbean community with a series of programs showcasing the diversity of Caribbean culture. Check out all of the great exhibits and the awesome party later at night. Owing to limited capacity, some programs require tickets. Free tickets are available for selected events. Please note ticket distribution times above. Members may pick up tickets from the Membership Desk beginning at 2 p.m. while supplies last. Programs subject to change without notice. Free general admission and $4 parking (flat rate), 5–11 p.m. Museum galleries are open until 11 p.m. Cash bar, food concessions, and Shop open until 11 p.m.

Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden (Rain location: Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor)
Tribal Legacy plays reggae classics and adds an island twist to dance party favorites.

6 p.m. Curator Talk
Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd Floor
Curator of European Art Rich Aste on recent acquisition Free Women of Color with their Children and Servants in a Landscape. Free tickets available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

6 p.m. Film
Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Forum, 4th Floor
What My Mother Told Me (Frances-Anne Solomon, 1995, 57 min.). Film about a young woman who goes to Trinidad to bury her father and takes a dramatic journey toward self-discovery. Free tickets available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

6:30–7:30 p.m. Performance
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
Trinidad-born actress and comedian Hazelle Goodman presents her newest show, “Don’t Get Me Started.” Free tickets available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

6:30–8:30 p.m. Hands-on Art
Education Gallery, 1st Floor
Decorate fabric with Afro-Caribbean designs, creating a tropical wrap to wear. Free timed tickets available at the Visitor Center at 5:30 p.m.

7 p.m. Gallery Talk
Asian and Islamic Art Galleries, 2nd Floor
Aisha Khan, Associate Professor of Anthropology at New York University, discusses influences of South Asian and Islamic culture in the Caribbean. Free tickets available at the Visitor Center at 6 p.m.

8–10 p.m. Dance Party
Museum Parking Lot (Rain location Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd Floor)
DJ Spice spins music from around the Caribbean.

8:30–10 p.m. Music
Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
The Museum and Afro-Punk Festival present DJ Jillionaire and reggae rock band The Cool and Deadly.

10–11 p.m. Late Night in the Galleries
